Framed image of watercolor foxglove

Are you ready to paint along with me in real time as we bring this detailed foxglove to life? I sure am!! I’m thrilled to invite you to my free Pink Foxglove Watercolor Live Class Saturday, February 22, at 9 AM MST, streaming live on YouTube! (The replay is available to watch if you're seeing this after the date!)

Even though this painting may look detailed, this tutorial is designed for artists of all levels. Whether you’re a seasoned painter or just beginning your watercolor journey, this class will guide you step by step in creating a stunning pink poppy floral study. Feel free to pause the video as needed!

What You’ll Need:

To make the most of the class, gather the following supplies:

  • Paints:

    • Winsor Lemon (or a cool yellow like lemon yellow)

    • Quinacridone Red (or alizarin crimson or opera rose)

    • Sap Green

    • Ultramarine Blue

  • Brushes:

    • Two size 6 round brushes

    • One size 1 round brush

  • Paper:

    • Any size will work, but I'm going to be painting inside of my cold press watercolor sketchbook! I'll use a sheet that is approximately 8x8. Be sure to use real watercolor paper — It makes a huge difference!

  • Sketch: Download the sketch reference provided below and sketch it out ahead of time.

What to Expect:

Here’s a glimpse of our process:

  1. Underwash: We’ll begin with a light underwash to establish the lightest colors and create the basic shape of our painting. This will be the lightest part of the painting process.

  2. Form Development: Gradually, we’ll layer colors to create depth and dimension.

  3. Details: Finally, we’ll add those intricate details that bring the pink poppy to life!

You’re welcome to watch just to enjoy a soothing painting process, paint along with me live, or watch the replay later at your convenience. The recording will be available on my YouTube channel, so you can revisit it anytime!

How to Prepare:

Download the sketch reference below and have your sketch prepared before the class begins. Sketching ahead will help you dive right into painting when we start. Alternatively, you can watch the session and paint at your own pace afterward.

This class is not only a chance to hone your watercolor skills but also a wonderful way to relax and connect with a very sweet creative community!
