A Rose of Farewell. Original watercolor painting on watercolor paper.
 
This was painted back in 2016. I remember exactly where I was: On the road somewhere between Nashville and Oregon. (A makeshift mobile studio!) I was on my way to Oregon with my sister, who has packed her belongings and was starting fresh in a new state. This time in life was intensely bittersweet; a time of greeting beautiful new dreams while waving a sad farewell to old ones. To me, this painting speaks of melancholy joy, hopeful grief, and a deep trust that beautiful things are just beyond what I can see.

A note on original works: All imperfections have been photographed, but please note that original works often carry small inconsistencies and characteristics that show they've been "well loved" during the creation process! It makes me so happy to think that these original works that I spent so much time with will soon have beautiful forever homes. Places where they can belong and be cherished and loved for years to come!
